What does Jesus look like? | Revelation 1:9-20

Sep 13, 2026  •  Pastor Tyler Wilkins

Drawing from Revelation 1:9-20, this sermon calls believers to examine and correct their mental image of Jesus Christ. Pastor Tyler argues that what a person thinks about Jesus directly shapes how they live for Him. Using the apostle John's vision of the glorified, ascended Christ, the sermon presents three defining attributes of Jesus: He is a caring Savior who strengthens His people through tribulation rather than removing them from it, He is a crowned sovereign of incomparable majesty and divine authority, and He is the ultimate source of comfort for His church. The book of Revelation is presented as a divine care package given by Christ to His church to sustain faithfulness through hardship. The sermon closes with a call for both believers and the lost to respond to the biblical portrait of Jesus, either by deepening their commitment to Him or by turning to Him in repentance and faith for the first time.
